On Monday, November 26th 2012 the partners arrived in Turgutlu.
Tuesday, November 27th 2012 was the first meeting day when participants were officially welcomed by the Turkish institution. After the official meeting, partners went on to introduce themselves and they made presentations of their own institutions and they explained what kind of activities they are engaged in.
Wednesday, November 28th 2012 was the day for the project meeting. This was the first meeting of the project; what’s more, during the application process there were eight partners, but only four of them were approved by their NAs. That’s why, all partners agreed on the fact that the right thing to do was to go through the applicaiton form together, make necessary changes and plan the two years of the project.
A brief summary was read by Maureen Lawton and then partners went on to discuss the details.
Steps of the project were decided to be as such:
1) The final product of the project is going to be a manual, and all activities of the project are activities that lead us to the manual.
2) The first step will be to prepare questionnaires in order to find out about the current situation. The questionnaires will be handed out to both learners and teachers and the aim is to find out the problems they face in the classroom. Surveymonkey was put forward as a useful tool to prepare these questionnaires.
3) It is agreed that the questionnaires will be handed out to 10 teachers and 10 learners.
4) We need a website for the project. The coordinator institution, Turgutlu İlçe Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü is responsible for setting a website and we need a password for each country. Each country should produce their own section for the website. Besides, it is agreed that the website should also include a forum where teachers and learners can share experiences.
5) The deadline for the questionnaire is January.
6) The questionnaires will be evaluated and a report will be written. The report template should be the same for all partners. The results will help us to determine the course content and the workshops.
7) A target group will be set up including 5-10 trainers/teachers (in the project, they are learners.)
8) Partners agreed on the fact that a logo is necessary for the project and the Polish partners agreed to create it. They said they will prepare a few options and let the other partners vote on them. The deadline for the logos is the beginning of January.
9) There will also be leaflets to hand out to the public. Polish partners also agreed to do them too and they explained how they will carry out this work. They will be in PDF format and they will publish it in English. Each partner will translate it into their own language. Publishing it in a paper format is optional. The deadline for the leaflet is 15th of January.
10) Deadline for determining on the curriculum of the course and the workshops is February.
11) The course that will be given to the target group will run in March.
12) There will be a second meeting in March between 14-17 March in Austria to discuss about the courses.
13) After the course the target group will run workshop which include brainstorming, drama activities, and exchange of experiences.
14) An interim report will be written in June 2013 about the first year of the project.
15) There will be two more meetings in the second year of the project and the approximate dates are; in Spain in September 2013 and the final meeting in Poland in May 2014.
16) In the second year there will be videos including role play games and real life situations. It was agreed that the videos should be in the original languages and then subtitles should be added. The videos are not going to be professional works; they could be recorded even with mobile phones.
17) The last meeting will be about discussing the two years and giving the manual its final shape. The Polish partners said that they could arrange a meeting in which a professional working in the field of adult education is invited and thus, promote the project.
18) Another topic of discussion was dissemination strategy; press releases, putting information about the project in the website of each partner institution were proposed dissemination activities. The Austrian partners sad they could prepare newsletters to send to the people they work with.
19) It was also agreed that a healthy communication is vital for the project; it was agreed that we should keep in contact. Austrian partners suggested Dropbox to share the documents fast and they also suggested setting up a Facebook group where we can invite teachers and learners too.
Thusday, November 29th 2012 was the departure day. The partners visited the city of İzmir in the morning and then they went to the airport to catch their planes.
